The collections reflect something of the diversity and practice of Joerg Reichardt’s photography: capturing events and people on his travels to Cuba, a personal photographic diary filled with the contradictions and beauty of everyday live. – The print collections offer you the opportunity to purchase an original print, signed and numbered.
The closer the evening sun moves toward the horizon, the busier it gets on Havanas favorite waterfront promenade – the Malecón. Couples sit on the wall in love, anglers cast their bait, people stroll, chat and laugh. While the salt, the sun, and economic difficulties have taken their toll, the colors have faded and there are large scars in the masonry, it still exudes its own morbid charm..

And with each step you’ve forgotten something about yourself …
“ It’s about finding order in what may at first seem like chaos. It’s about simplifying what you see and distilling everything into a single, coherent frame. Classic compositional techniques like leading lines, foreground, symmetry and rules of thirds come into play and it’s all about finding the right spot; – all this takes time. But there is also the reverse, you are ‚at one‘ with time and ‚are‘ in the right place, along with what is happening around you. You are no longer looking for the right detail, the images come to you, you just have to take them in, because you have earned them by walking to them. Step by step. And with each step you’ve forgotten something about yourself and at the same time you learned something new.“ j.a.reichardt

„The salesman sits motionless at the shop window, waiting for passers-by who want to buy something from the few things he offers. The grid seems to cross-hatch him and underline his insignificance; only his gaze penetrates the grid and a vague undefined desire becomes visible, the cause of which he has long forgotten.“

In Cuba, time whispers a different melody. Amidst vibrant Havana streets, I encountered a paradox—a land where moments bloomed, defying haste. Miguel, an elder with wise eyes, revealed the secret—a symphony woven by history and soul. Revolution reshaped their perception, embracing community over progress. Neighborhoods transformed into families, laughter and tales swirling through timeless hours. Isolated from the world’s clamor, Cuba’s time drifted leisurely, traditions untouched by hurried winds. Some sought horizons, but a poetic truth echoed—a longing to savor life’s gifts. In shared laughter, vibrant art, and loved ones‘ company, they spun a timeless sanctuary.
